What to expect from Bates Pilates
My classes are designed to be accessible, varied, and genuinely effective—no matter your starting point.
How the Classes Are Structured
Each class runs for one hour and follows a clear, balanced structure:
Warm-up (15 minutes):
Breathing, stretching, and mobility work, starting from the head and moving down through the body to prepare you for movement.
Main workout (3 sequences):
- A standing sequence (legs, arms, and balance)
- A seated, side-lying or four-point kneeling sequence
- A lying sequence focusing on legs and core
Gentle stretching is included between each section to reset the body.
Cool down (10 minutes):
Stretching and breath work to help you relax, recover, and leave feeling reset.
What Makes My Classes Different
I use a range of props such as Pilates rings, balls, and resistance bands (all included in the class price) to add variety, support your movements, and increase the level of challenge where needed.
Pilates is often thought of as just “stretching and light core work”—but it’s so much more than that. My classes are designed to build real strength and control, while still being low impact and joint-friendly.
Every exercise comes with options. I always offer progressions and regressions, so you can make movements easier or more challenging depending on your ability. Whether you’re a complete beginner or more advanced, there is always a level that works for you—and I don’t want anyone leaving feeling like they haven’t had a good workout.
Each class is different week to week, keeping things fresh and engaging. At the same time, we revisit key movements regularly so you can improve, build confidence, and see progress over time.
Benefits of Pilates
Pilates is a low-impact but highly effective way to strengthen and support your body, helping you feel better both during and after each class.
- Improves core strength and stability
- Supports better posture and alignment
- Increases flexibility and mobility
- Helps reduce aches and muscle tension
- Builds full-body strength without high impact
- Improves balance, coordination, and control
- Encourages body awareness and mindful movement
- Supports relaxation and reduces stress
Pilates vs Strength Training
Pilates and strength training complement each other really well, but they each have slightly different focuses.
Pilates is all about control, endurance, mobility, and deep core strength. It’s low impact and helps you move more efficiently, improve posture, and build a strong foundation.
Strength training (like weight training) focuses more on building muscle, increasing bone density, and developing overall power and strength.
Both are incredibly beneficial, and combining the two can be a great way to create a strong, balanced, and resilient body.
